Staff who took redundancy at Shrewsbury prison were paid almost £3m, a Freedom of Information request has revealed. 

The Shropshire Star report:

More than £2.7 million has been paid to staff who had been based at the Shrewsbury jail.

It equates to an average payout of almost £28,000 per staff member.

Details of the payouts have been revealed by a Freedom of Information request by the Shropshire Star to the Ministry of Justice.
