800 children spend night behind bars every week with some as young as 10, FOI reveals

The Mirror report:

Nearly 41,000 children spent a night in police cells in a year.

An average of 112 under 17s were locked up overnight every day – roughly 800 a week – in 2011.

And 387 primary school age kids were held in 2010/11, the Howard League for Penal Reform charity found.
