The Sutton Observer report:

A RAT epidemic in Birmingham has been revealed by a pest survey carried out by a not-for-profit trade body.

Birmingham City Council received 25.22 requests to deal with rodent problems per 1,000 residents – the highest per capita demand in the UK – a survey by the British Pest Control Association found.

BPCA sent Freedom of Information Act requests to all district, borough and unitary authorities in the country to find out demand for pest control in the 12 months to April 2012.
