ALMOST £300,000 of tools and equipment has been stolen from building sites in Derbyshire over the past year.

Figures obtained through a freedom of information request show there were 241 thefts recorded by Derbyshire police between September 1, 2012, and August 31, 2013.

Stealing materials and fuels from building sites is estimated to cost the UK’s construction industry more than £800 million every year.
