A Plymouth MP has called for a security review after new figures revealed that 349 mobile phones were seized from inmates in the region’s three prisons over the last five years.

201 contraband devices were confiscated from prisoners at HMP Channings Wood, Newton Abbot, between 2009 and 2013.

In the same period, 88 were recovered from HMP Dartmoor and 60 from HMP Exeter.
