Confirmed: UK’s new Information Commissioner is Elizabeth Denham

The UK’s new Information Commissioner will be Elizabeth Denham, it has been confirmed.

Denham, who will be relocating from Canada, will take up the job of Freedom of Information and Data Protection regulator this year after Chris Graham steps down.

The new Commissioner was approved by a committee of MPs who questioned her suitability for the job. Denham was put forward as the recommended candidate – you can read about her background here – in March.

“On the basis of the evidence presented, we approve Elizabeth Denham’s appointment as Information Commissioner,” the Culture, Media, and Sport select committee said in its hastily prepared report.
