Biometric data obtained from 7,000 Cornwall pupils, FOI reveals

FINGERPRINT data of more than 7,000 children has been obtained by secondary schools in Cornwall, a Cornish Guardian investigation has uncovered.

The figures, which show that more than a third of secondary schools in Cornwall are using the technology, were obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.

In total, 12 secondary schools have collected the fingerprints of their students using electronic scanners since the technology first came into use nearly ten years ago.
