The Manchester Evening News report:

Town hall chiefs have been slammed after it was revealed their plans to close seven bowling greens will save just £26,000.

The proposed closures have caused outrage in Stockport’s bowling community, and it has now emerged the savings would represent just three per cent of the required £1m saving to the council’s green space budget.

The figures were revealed after a Freedom Of Information request to the council.
