Derby City Council actions “defeat point” of Freedom of Information Act

DERBY City Council has refused to say how, or if, it responded to a demand from the UK’s information watchdog to fully respond to an employee’s Freedom of Information request about his pay.

Its comments came after it told the Derby Telegraph to make its own Freedom of Information request to get a response to the question.

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 means that members of the public and journalists have a legal right to information held by councils unless an exemption applies.

Reported by the Derby Telegraph. You can read the full story here.
