Stewart, 50, was convicted for her part in the killing of her police officer husband Trevor Buchanan, aged 32, and Lesley Howell, 31, a nurse and wife of her former lover in May 1991.
She was sentenced to serve at least 18 years behind bars at Coleraine Crown Court in March 2011.
Despite living in a luxurious detached house outside outside the Co Londonderry town, she claimed her entitlement to legal aid to pay for two attempts to prove her innocence.
