David Cameron is facing scrutiny after 1,000 people caught with knives last year were given just a caution after the pre-election pledge to jail all knife criminals.

The figures, revealed by a Freedom of Information request, show that 7,245 faced court for carrying a blade and 1,266 received a caution.

The Mirror report:

More than 1,000 yobs were let off with a caution last year after they were caught carrying a knife.

Around one in seven walked free – despite the Tory Party’s pre-election pledge to jail ALL knife criminals.

In their manifesto they said it would send a “serious, unambiguous message that carrying a knife is unacceptable”.
