Police officers who leaked details about the phone-hacking investigation have been sacked or resigned a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

In one case a detective constable quit before he was punished.

The Sun report:

FIVE cops and a civilian worker have been axed or forced to resign from Scotland Yard’s probes into phone-hacking and payments to public officials.

They were among nine staff on the £40million investigation probed over serious misconduct.

At least three more officers remain under investigation but are still in post.

The six who are no longer on the squad left due to “discreditable conduct”, “neglect or failure of duty” and leaking information, the force admitted after a freedom of information request.
