FOI reveals £60k spent on barring travellers from public land in East Lindsey

Almost £60,000 has been spent to bar travellers from public land in the district over last two years, the Target can reveal.

A Freedom of Information request has shown East Lindsey District Council spent £59,036.80 on legal fees, security guards and car park barriers to protect publicly-owned land being illegally occupied by travellers since 2013.

The national Gypsy Council claims the money would have been enough to create a permanent gypsy and traveller site in the district.
