FOI reveals 80 peers claim £300 payment for hour-long House of Lords’ tributes to MP Jo Cox

The peers claimed the cash for turning up to Parliament on June 20, when both the House of Lords and House of Commons were recalled from recess for a single day in the wake of the Labour MP’s death.

In addition, 45 members of the House of Lords also claimed travel expenses for their journeys to and from Parliament on the day.

Under House of Lords rules, members are entitled to claim a maximum £300 daily allowance for each day of attendance at Westminster.
