FOI reveals around 240k books and records disposed of after Manchester Central Library revamp

A total of 240,000 books and records – more than a third of its collection – have been disposed of from Manchester’s Central Library.

The Friends of Central Library group have called the cull ‘morally reprehensible’.

But the council say it is legitimate housekeeping and insist no hidden treasures have been lost.
