More than £700,000 a day is being spent housing and feeding asylum seekers, official figures show.

As authorities struggle to process more than three applications an hour, the full extent of the benefits being paid to thise awaiting the outcome has been revealed,

Since 2010, the total spent on bed and board for asylum seekers has reached £1.2 billion.
