Blundering councils have wrongly overpaid staff by more than £50million – while slashing spending on basic public services.
Among more than 70,000 local authority employees to receive erroneous payouts is a healthcare worker who was accidentally paid £218,000.
And although that was recouped within a week, other workers had to be pursued through the courts.
