FOI reveals Braintree Council spent £80,000 on experts and lawyers over Sainsbury’s bid

Braintree Council spent nearly £80,000 on experts and lawyers during Sainsbury’s unsuccessful bid to build a new superstore in the town.

The retail giant submitted plans for a new store at the Broomhills Industrial Estate in 2011 but they were rejected by the council in November 2013.
