More than 160 Cambridgeshire police officers are now fitted with tiny cameras after the ‘Plebgate’ affair as part of a trial project with Cambridge University.

But the move has sparked fears among political campaigners following a bungled attempt to ‘spy’ on Cambridge University students and activists by undercover police.

An officer attempted to recruit an activist in his 20s to become an informant in return for money – but was caught on camera, as the News reported.
