FOI reveals Cardiff Council spends £28,000 on tea, biscuits and refreshments in three years

Cardiff council’s spending on tea and biscuits has come under fire after it emerged it has splashed out more than £28,000 on refreshments over the last three years

A Freedom of Information request to the authority has revealed that residents have footed the bill for £28,749.67 worth of nibbles to be supplied at formal council meetings since October 2010.

The highest figure was in the municipal year May 2011 to May 2012 when councillors got through refreshments worth £11,262.45 over 164 meetings. This averages out to about £69 per meeting.
