SALES of new cross-service tickets for York buses were thousands lower than transport chiefs originally claimed, they have revealed.
Only 10,425 All York tickets – £5 one-day tickets that can be used on any York bus – were bought between last summer’s launch and the end of July this year, despite a December meeting of the York Quality Bus Partnership in December being told 10,000 were sold in the three months following their introduction.
City of York Council had refused to release the figures, citing commercial confidentiality, but were ordered to do so by the Information Commissioner’s Office following a Freedom of Information request by York Liberal Democrats.
