A controversial ambulance service dogged by a string of criticisms has come under fire again for blowing more cash on public relations than any other in the country.

East of England Ambulance Service spends nearly £247,406 a year on its PR team – enough for 10 NHS paramedics.

The amount is bigger than its London counterpart which covers two and a half million more people.
