The cost of the VIP paedophile probes led by scandal-hit Scotland Yard has neared £7million.

Vast sums spent on the under-fire child sex inquiries can be disclosed after an extra £1.2million was paid out to investigate more than 2,000 men, the Sunday Peoplereports.

Operation Hydrant, which has failed to convict any senior figure, used the funds on staffing, accommodation and travel costs for 43 officers UK-wide.
