A thousand lollipop ladies have been axed since 2010 – putting children’s lives at risk, a Mirror investigation reveals today.

Tory-led budget cuts mean councils are firing school crossing patrols, who earn an average of £3,000 a year.

One teacher warned town hall bosses they will have “blood on their hands” if children died on the roads.
