FOI reveals DVLA rakes in £160,000 a week selling drivers’ details

The DVLA is making £160,000 a week by selling drivers’ data to private parking firms, new figures have revealed.

The government agency raked in £8.3million last year from the practice, up from £6.1million in the previous year.

The rise is thought to be down to soaring numbers of private parking companies requesting information from the DVLA so they can chase motorists for fines.
