FOI reveals elderly face postcode lottery in cost of long-term

The infirm elderly across Britain face a postcode lottery in long-term care costs because councils in the north contribute far less towards cost than those in the South.

Huge variations in local authority funding for care were revealed by 190 Freedom of Information requests submitted by Which? to UK councils.

In general, authorities in London and the south of England provided high rates of weekly funding towards care costs, while the lowest subsidy was in the north.
