FOI reveals Greater Manchester Police paid out £800k in ‘golden handshake’ deals

Greater Manchester Police shelled out nearly £800,000 as part of ‘golden handshakes’ to get rid of staff over the last five years, it can be revealed.

One of the biggest pay-outs went to former head of training and development Cathy Butterworth.

The MEN has previously reported how the £87,000-a-year HR specialist was controversially handed £204,413 although published accounts suggested the amount was far lower.
