Cash-strapped Metropolitan Police chiefs have been blasted for spending millions of pounds on luxury flights – some just an hour from London.

Shock figures reveal £4.6million went on first-class and business-class air travel in the last two years while Britain’s biggest force is having to make massive cuts.

Guidelines allow upgrades only if the flight is longer than six hours, unless there is a security exception.
