FOI reveals Leicester City Council pays out more than £40,000 after Diwali injuries

Leicester City Council bosses paid out more than £40,000 in compensation and legal fees after three members of a family were injured at a Diwali event, it has been revealed.

The three injured people, who have not been named, tripped on an automatic bollard at the Cossington Recreation Ground during the city’s Diwali lights switch on ceremony.

Details of the case have emerged after a company submitted a Freedom of Information request asking specifically how many Christmas or festive related injury claims have been made against the authority.
