Manchester council spent more than £130,000 on iPads this year – up nearly 550 per cent from two years ago.

Council workers were gifted 349 iPads in the 2013/14 financial year at the ‘extraordinary’ cost of £130,809.83 to the taxpayer.

This, compared to a meagre £20,335.44 spent on 32 iPads in 2011/12, represents a leap of 543 per cent.
