A licence plate with the registration MA16 UTD has been bought for £399.
The unnamed motorist, believed to be a Manchester United fan , snapped up the deal as thousands of 2016 plates went on sale in the UK.
Another registration reading CH16 SEA was also bagged for £399, apparently by a Chelsea supporter.
