FOI reveals MoD civilian staff claim £17m in injury compensation

Ministry of Defence civilian staff have been paid more than £17m in compensation a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

The Telegraph report:

A total of 137 incidents were logged, which also included a chef cutting his little finger while slicing beef and a worker who suffered neck and back injuries after being forced into a headlock by an angry colleague.

The incidents were recorded under Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR), which emerged after a Freedom of Information request, the Mirror reported.

In another case, a civil servant went to hospital and had a week off work with headaches after being hit by a PVC door she was trying to repair at an office in Winchester when it suddenly fell off its hinges and was knocked to the floor.
