More than one in 10 Citybikes has been damaged, lost or stolen since the cycle hire scheme was launched just under four months ago.

30 have suffered ‘minor vandalism or breakages’ including stolen lights and bells, broken brakes and forcible removal from their locks, city council figures show.

A further seven bikes were lost in one recent incident alone, while four bike-stations were so badly damaged that they had to be removed and re-located elsewhere.
