FOI reveals NHS in Hull pays £34,800 in private medical bills for three of its own staff

MORE THAN £30,000 of public money has been used to pay private medical insurance for three staff working at Hull and East Riding’s hospitals, it has emerged.

The private medical bill cost Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust £16,200 last year and £18,600 the previous year.

The figures, revealed in a Freedom of Information request by the Press Association, sparked criticism from patients’ groups who said the amount was the equivalent to the cost of a senior staff nurse.
