FOI reveals NHS watchdog staff put up in luxury hotels, stately homes and country houses

The NHS watchdog has bust its hotel budget putting up thousands of inspectors in plush accommodation costing up to £240 a night, an investigation has found.

The Care Quality Commission has spent four times what was planned on hotels and travel in the last financial year, racking up a total bill of £4.4m in 2014/15, new figures show.
