FOI reveals obesity crisis forces mortuary doors to be widened

The NHS has had to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds fitting out hospitals with facilities for morbidly obese patients, according to new figures.

The news comes weeks after reports that graveyards are having to widen their plot to fit in oversized coffins.

Today it emerged that the health service in Greater Manchester has had to fork out £167,000 for bed hire, hoist chairs and commodes for obese patients.
