FOI reveals private organisations give £2.9m for public projects in Newquay

Private developers in Newquay have paid almsot £3m towards public projects a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

NEWQUAY has received £2.9 million in contributions from housing and retail developers since 2000 and is owed a further £2.7 million, the Cornish Guardian can reveal.

Cornwall Council has released full details of Section 106 payments for the first time, following a comprehensive request by this paper under the Freedom of Information Act.

 The information also shows a pot of more than £450,000 is sitting in the council’s bank account, earmarked for ‘open spaces’ projects, but has no schemes attached to it.
