FOI reveals reveal police have no officers available for thousands of 999 calls

Thousands of crime victims may be being left waiting for a response to emergency999 calls as police lack resources to send an immediate response.

No police car was available to answer emergency calls in Surrey on more than 1,200 occasions last year.

Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show there were 1,209 emergency incidents last year where the 999 call was flagged as no unit available.
