FOI reveals rise in deaths and serious incidents caused by 999 delays and errors

That is up from 127 in the previous two years and 90 in the years before that, a Freedom of Information request found.

They include a pensioner who died after waiting 50 minutes for an East Midlands ambulance — as five other response vehicles had broken down.

Another patient died of a heart attack after a South Central ambulance went to the wrong address.
