FOI reveals Scottish NHS locum bill hits nearly £250 million

Scotland’s NHS spent nearly a quarter of a billion pounds on expensive locum doctors and nurses last year because there are too few permanent staff, Ruth Davidson has disclosed.

The Scottish Tory leader said the amount spent by the health service on temporary medics rose by £41 million in 2015/16 to £248 million, with some boards doubling their spending.
