FOI reveals seizures of abandoned and stray horses fall in Wales

New legislation aimed at tackling fly-grazing and abandoned horses is in danger of becoming “toothless” and a “missed opportunity”, according to the Welsh Conservatives.

A Freedom of Information request has revealed the declining – and sporadic – use of the Control of Horses (Wales) Act by county councils.

The Act was introduced by the Welsh Government in 2014 as an urgent response to fly-grazing and equine abandonment issues across Wales.
