Rich Tory landlords are among those raking in millions of pounds in housing benefit,new figures show.

Despite the Government clampdown on welfare payments, the housing benefit bill – which ultimately ends up in the pockets of landlords – continues to rise.

The total cost of housing benefit has soared from £19.9 billion in 2010 to £24.5bn this year – with £9.3 billion of the cash going to private landlords.
