Bomb disposal experts were called to nearly 2,000 homemade explosives in the UK over the past three years, official figures reveal.
Defence chiefs say they attended 1,864 “tasks” involving improvised explosive devices – normally seen in Iraq and Afghanistan – since 2012.
Officials classified the weapons as “non-military improvised devices created to cause injury or death”.
