Wales’ university leaders have been criticised for spending thousands of pounds on first class flights, hotels and other expenses at a time when many staff face losing their jobs.

A study by the University and College Union (UCU) into senior pay and perks found that all but one of Wales’ eight vice-chancellors were paid more than £200,000 in 2013-14, with five enjoying salary hikes.
