Greater Manchester Police one of worst in country for answering 101 calls quickly, FOI reveals

Greater Manchester Police are one of the worst police forces in the UK to answer non-emergency 101 calls, a Freedom of Information request has found.

Mancunian Matters report:

Non-emergency calls to Greater Manchester Police had one of the slowest answering times in England and Wales last year, new figures reveal.

The average time GMP took to answer a call to the specialised 101 number was 35 seconds – second worst nationally – while only 51% were answered within 30 seconds.

Greater Manchester Police refuted the January-October 2012 statistics however, insisting they have answered 71.35% of 101 calls within 30 seconds this year, exceeding their personal target of 70%.
