Town hall bosses have been slammed for spending more than £70m on agency staff in the last six years.

Critics accused Manchester council of ‘huge’ wastefulness after the figures were revealed under Freedom of Information laws.

The city spent an average of £14m a year on agency workers between 2007 and 2012, according to data supplied to the Liberal Democrats.
