An MP has criticised cuts to cancer services in his constituency after a Freedom of Information request revealed the scale of the imposed reductions.

Barnsley MP Michael Dugher has said budget cuts to a cancer network are ‘throwing it into chaos’.

He spoke out after a Freedom of Information request showed the Yorkshire Cancer Network had its funding cut by £513,000 – or 38 per cent – between 2009/10 and 2012/13.

The network supports and promotes the implementation of improvements in cancer care and also develops strategies
