Number of traffic lights in London increases by 5%, FOI reveals

The number of traffic lights in London is on the rise — despite expectations that the number would fall.

In 2008 there were 5,972 sets of traffic lights on the capital’s roads, with 3,163 at junctions for traffic and 2,809 at pedestrian crossings.

Today, a Freedom of Information request has revealed, the number has jumped to 6,252, with 2,907 at junctions and 3,345 at pedestrian crossings.
