Tiny tots have had DNA samples taken from their bodies in criminal investigations, critics say.
Shock new figures show that police forces across the country collected a total of 60 swabs from youngsters under 10 – the age of criminal responsibility. One constabulary took DNA from a child less than 12 months old, while another swabbed a one-year-old.
In certain circumstances, police can ask for samples from potential vulnerable victims of crime.
