Position for new £140k Information Commissioner advertised

The Freedom of Information regulator is set to be replaced next year and the £140,000 position has been advertised.

Christopher Graham, the current Information Commissioner, is due to step aside in the Summer of 2016.

Graham took over the role in 2009 and is the second Commissioner since the FOI came into force in 2005.

The role of the Information Commissioner sees overall responsibility for Freedom of Information decisions and compliance as well data protection issues, regulations on privacy and electronic communications and the lesser known INSPIRE regulations.

The job is being recruited for by GatenbySanderson – and the advert is available on the Sunday Times website – but the overall process is a lengthy one. The successful candidate will have to meet government ministers and also appear before a select committee before they are appointed.

The deadline for applications is January 5 and the candidate pack can be found below.
